Hurray Hurray, we've got mail!
The first step of our project is to allow students from each partner country to keep in touch through the exchange of postcards. Receiving postcards from different places in the world can turn the school and its live mailbox into a box of surprises - and who wouldn't like that?
The exchange of postcards can make kids curious about other countries, other cultures and the schools themselves. It encourages students to consider “difference” as a positive value. This exchange happens on a peer to peer basis so kids in Italy, for example, will start to imagine how their counterparts in Estonia, Spain and Turkey live their lives. Imagination and curiosity will open their minds to wider perspectives and help them enrich their understanding of both broader and localised reality around them.
As you can see from this photo, students are eager to engage with the postcards. They are likely wondering who wrote them and from which school they came! This is a new and creative way to learn about Geography.
